The Diary Game Season 3 [ Friday July 18th, 2025 ] A day filled with simple moments
Greetings Steemit friends,
Elections are not won on the streets, despite what you hear from almost every Cameroonian nowadays. I went to bed very early last night and woke up as early as 3 a.m. When I looked at the news feed, I saw that the current president’s candidacy file had been submitted. It was not surprising to me, but what shocked me was how many Cameroonians were having problems with it.
A leader is often chosen by luck, and when you grab your opportunity, hold it well. That is what I say about my current president. If you look at how he got to that position, you will see there was some level of luck involved. He was endorsed to take over the country by law as the vice president at the time. And considering his age and the number of years he has held that seat, that is another level of luck. So yes, politics is about strategy, but luck plays a big role. And changing that luck takes a lot.
Social media was buzzing with reactions from all directions, but I could not go through everything since I had to prepare for work. I took my bath and got ready. I had a parcel to drop off at a friend’s office before heading to my own workplace. Since I left the house early, he told me to leave it with the security guard at his building.
After that, I got to my office, cleaned my desk, and set up for the day. My main focus was to complete some pending tasks and prepare for a brainstorming session on two minor projects. Once I cleared my tasks from the previous day, I started feeling very hungry, too hungry to wait until midday.
I decided to go for something quick, street food. Fried Irish potatoes and egg, simple and fast. In less than 15 minutes, it was done and ready for consumption. After eating, I felt a burst of energy and got back to work. I also took a moment to call and chat with my family.
Today, I had my duties as a curator, so I logged into Steemit to complete my tasks for the day. After that, it was past midday, and I joined others in setting up a hall for a small music training session scheduled for the next day. It was a great moment, and I even tried out a few notes on the guitar.
The goal is to encourage music and motivate young people to learn music while still in school. Since we are in the holiday period and most of them are free, this is the perfect time to help them make good use of the time on their hands.
After helping organize the setup, I decided to close for the day. When I got home, the news was still filled with updates about those submitting their candidacy for the presidential elections. So far, about 25 names were on the list. I saw one candidate, a woman I had never seen in any political forum before, and I asked myself. What assurance does she have of beating the current ruling power?
Truth be told, it feels like the whole election process in Cameroon is becoming a drama. The only serious party, in my view, is the ruling party. And I don’t say that from a place of bias, it’s just what I have observed.
During the evening news, I had my dinner. But just as I finished eating, the electricity went off. That pushed me to head to my room. I lay on my bed, and without even realizing it, I fell asleep. I only woke up when the lights came back on. I had to make a quick post before going back to bed, marking the end of my day.
Cheers
